Staking Technician

With 4-8 years of experience in staking distribution lines. Candidates should have a good working knowledge of electronic measuring devices, total stations, GPS, and computer staking, as well as how to use a compass, pull-finder, range rod, measuring tape, and machete. Good interpersonal communication skills are a must. This position requires extensive travel. We prefer someone in the Virginia or North Carolina area. The successful candidate will work out of their home.

Mid-Level Civil Engineer

Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Preparing construction documents, supporting calculations, and permitting applications packages for sites ranging from 1 acre to 600 plus acres.
  • Perform civil site development tasks including planning, designing, permitting, and construction site visits when relevant.
  • Work collaboratively within the Design Team and Project Managers with minimal supervision.
  • Research local, state, and federal regulatory requirements to ensure project compliance.
  • Perform engineering-grade stormwater computations applicable to the work.
  • Work with team to prepare a wide variety of site plans, drawings, maps, and other products to meet customer requirements.
  • Prepare construction drawings, site layouts, as-built drawings.
  • Assist in the creation of engineering tools and templates.
  • Review of deliverables to ensure quality control.

Other Key Responsibilities:

  • Successful management of multiple projects.
  • Preparation of cost estimates to ensure desired outcomes are achieved.
  • Determine project responsibilities by identifying key resources needed to complete the project.
  • Management of project and scope, monitoring and control of project progress, coordination of design activities, resolving issues, and recommending actions.
  • Review deliverables prepared by the team prior to presentation to the client, government entities, etc.
  • Apply the company’s design methodology and project standards.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Understanding of SWPP, SPCC, and BMPs a plus
  • Candidate should have 5-10 years of experience.
  • PE License or the ability to obtain one is required.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil3D
  • Ability to perform work requiring the independent judgment of engineering principles, procedures, and code requirements.
  • Experience in land development, utility design, water resources, or environmental engineering.
  • Proficiency in technical skills in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analysis, grading, and other side development-related designs.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written form as well as orally.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Utilize their strong history of effective client management, to maintain and develop relationships with both existing and potential clients.

Senior Substation Project Engineer Job Description

POSITION

PowerTech Engineering (PTE) is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to join our rapidly growing engineering team.

The qualified candidate will be an integral member of the team, responsible for overseeing the electrical design of utility substations. The incumbent will be responsible for the electrical design cycle and coordination of engineering resources both internal and external to PTE. Depending upon the project's complexity, the candidate will be responsible for providing direction to other design team members and coordinating the development of the overall design package. Qualified candidates must adapt to a continually evolving environment and thrive in an autonomous and deadline-oriented workplace.

The Senior Substation Engineer will have the following experience and attributes:

Desired Qualifications:

Power System Studies: Experience using ETAP, SKM, or other related software is highly desired.

Field Commissioning and Testing. Some travel will be required.

Drawings Development: Creation of one-line, three-line, AC/DC schematics, and wiring diagrams.

2D CAD experience (AutoCAD preferred) and Excel.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree in electrical engineering or related degree
  • PE license
  • 5+ years of experience in Protection and Control. This experience should include the creation of relay settings for Transmission and Distribution Systems using microprocessor relays.
